I feel bad for Suzella because she is inbetween both worlds of black and white and she is struggling which one to choose. She probably doesn't have that many friends at home either because they think having two different color parents is weird. I personally think she should choose the black world because she has family and many relatives on that side and they would probably be happy to be with her and she could feel happy.

I feel really bad for Cousin Bud because it is not his fault that he loved a white woman. It may not have been the best idea because white men may come after Cousin Bud, but Uncle Hammer and the other Logans really shouldn't discourage him because that will stop him from getting Lydia back even though there is a small chance of him getting her back. I think Uncle Hammer should let Cousin Bud make his own mistakes and learn from them.

I think Cousin Bud will get hurt because when he follows his wife, she might go to the police and they might hurt him. When Cousin Bud got married to a white woman, I think he was destined to get hurt in some way. When Big Ma told him to sing a song, I think it had a meaning because it said "There'll be a time when trouble comes" and "Treated like dirt and thrown in jail" and I think that means those lines in the song might come true to him. Now, I don't think even the Logans like him either.

If I were Cassie, I would be a little bit upset about the AAA and other organizations that are trying to make the Logan family destroy their cotton in turn for a little bit of money. I don't think it's fair they are trying to make farmers destroy their cotton because they will probably not get any money for it. The farmers should come together to stop the folks from AAA and other organizations from destroying their cotton by saying no to the organizations. If they refuse, the organizations and the government will not make a profit out of the farmers and the farmers won't lose any of their cotton.

Since Cassie is going to Miz Lee Annie's house and has to see Wordell, I think she might get ambushed by white folk and Wordell and Joe will come and save her. I think people will ambush her because Harlan Granger is upset at Papa.

There was a lot of describing and figurative language in the beginning of Chapter 4 describing the setting and how the weather was. Most of the figurative language was personifications. A couple of examples are:
- ".......nothing seemed to stir but the smoke curling upward.................."
- "......a frosty, idle cold that seeped across a hot land ever looking toward the days of green........."

The part that surprised me the most was from the beginning of Pg. 85 to the end of Pg. 86. I thought that T.J would be okay, but he recieved death penalty and Stacey and the other Logan children see him for the last time.
Mrs. Avery and Mr. Avery cry and are mourning over T.J's death penalty while the Logan children watch. Then as the police take T.J away, Stacey says his goodbyes and is really upset. So is Cassie. They never see T.J again. I also felt horrible that T.J was gone because he had been such an important role in Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. T.J had done lots of mistakes, but I don't think he deserved death. He should have gotten a sentence in jail for a few years at most. They never see T.J again.

Since Stacey learned about T.J's trial, he's probably had ideas of going to the trial even if his Papa said no. Then Stacey, Little Willie, and other children decide to go to the trial and miss a little bit of school, but Cassie, Little Man, and Christopher-John want to go too. Cassie, Little Man, and Christopher-John go to the trial.
I was nervous when Little Man and Christopher-John were going to the bathroom for whites and Cassie was drinking from a water fountain for whites because they were almost caught, but Jeremy was there and he dragged Cassie, Little Man, and Christopher-John outside through a side door. So now the Logan children owe Jeremy. When Stacey figures out, he is worried but Jeremy reassures him and goes back inside. Then they go to watch the trial.

I don't think Cassie was being smart in getting the marble back because it is most likely that Cassie will recieve a whipping from her father because he figured out she was disobeying him. She was being sneaky, but it was obvious that she wasn't in the church and it wouldn't have been that hard for her Papa to figure out she was playing marbles.
I feel really bad for Wordell because I think he was just trying to get the baby down from the bell tower because Joe put the baby up there. Wordell probably flees because he doesn't know what he is being accused for. I think Joe follows Wordell to apologize and say it was his fault.
